Before joining UP3 for work experience, I knew the company specialised in helping organisations get the most from ServiceNow. What I didn't appreciate was how many different individuals, teams and decisions come together behind the scenes to deliver this outcome for clients.
The most valuable part of my week was spending time with the marketing team. From joining weekly planning meetings to taking part in calls with external creative agencies, I gained a real insight into the work involved in shaping and communicating UP3's brand. It was particularly interesting to see the thought that goes into ensuring the company's messaging remains consistent across different platforms, while clearly communicating the value UP3 can bring to its potential clients.
One project I particularly enjoyed was completing and presenting a SWOT analysis of UP3 from a marketing perspective. This involved analysing the company's website and comparing it with competitors to identify strengths, opportunities as well as areas for development. It gave me a much greater appreciation of the role marketing plays in positioning a business within a competitive market and communicating its vision.
I also spent time with one of UP3's Sales Executives, who talked me through what a typical day looks like. From customer check-ins and technical demonstrations to proposal writing, forecasting, prospect outreach and working closely with the marketing team on ongoing campaigns, I was exposed to the variety of responsibilities involved in the role. It reinforced how sales is about far more than winning new business; it's about understanding customers, building relationships, and working collaboratively across the organisation.
A highlight of the week was hearing from UP3's Co-Founders, Ruth and Matt, who shared their individual career journeys, the story behind UP3, and how they have grown the company to where it stands today. I then had the opportunity to speak with Matt in more detail about the company's strategy, discussing topics including AI, competition within the ServiceNow ecosystem and the importance of developing strong client relationships.
I also spent time with UP3's Events Coordinator, where I got involved in the planning involved in organising events, from researching potential venues to managing budgets and balancing practical considerations with the overall objectives of each event. It highlighted how much preparation goes into creating opportunities for clients and the wider business to connect.
Perhaps what stood out most throughout the week was the internal culture within the company. Everyone I met was incredibly welcoming and generous with their time. Whether I was speaking with colleagues in marketing, sales, events or senior leadership, people were genuinely happy to answer my questions and explain not just what they do, but why they do it. That openness made the experience both enjoyable and inspiring.
The experience has given me a much broader understanding of how a ServiceNow partner operates and how every part of the business contributes towards delivering value for their clients. I leave UP3 with a greater appreciation of the importance of collaboration, strong client relationships and having a clear vision that is shared across the organisation. I am incredibly grateful to everyone at UP3 for making the week such a valuable experience.
